This combined course covers both Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 2. The English component develops reading, writing, and speaking, listening, and communication skills. Learners will explore reading for meaning and analysis, including identifying bias, evaluating credibility, and interpreting layout features. Writing skills focus on producing clear and accurate texts such as emails, letters, blogs, and articles, with emphasis on grammar, punctuation, and spelling. The speaking, listening, and communication component prepares learners for real-life and workplace interactions through practical scenarios and assessment preparation.
The Maths component covers number skills, measures, shape and space, and data handling. Learners will apply fractions, decimals, percentages, and ratios to real-world problems, develop understanding of measurement and spatial reasoning, and interpret and present data effectively. Quizzes and assessor-marked assignments are used throughout to support learning and prepare for final assessments.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to confidently apply both English and maths skills at Level 2 standard in real-life and professional situations.
