Course Details

This qualification includes a single externally assessed exam delivered via the exam board’s secure platform. It evaluates learners’ ability to apply mathematical knowledge across three key areas: using numbers, understanding measure, shape and space, and handling data. The using numbers section covers whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, and ratios applied to practical scenarios such as budgeting, recipes, and financial calculations. The measure, shape, and space section assesses skills in area, distance, time, speed, and temperature, applied to real-world planning and spatial tasks. The handling data section focuses on interpreting, summarising, and presenting information, including probability, patterns, and identifying bias in data. Candidates are permitted to use a non-scientific calculator during the assessment.

By the end of the exam, learners will be able to confidently apply mathematical reasoning to solve complex problems in everyday and professional contexts.
