The purpose of the qualification is to develop learners’ knowledge, understanding and practical skills relating to key areas of management, enabling them to apply their learning effectively within the workplace and progress their careers. It is designed to support learners in developing the competencies required to take on greater responsibility and contribute effectively to the management and operation of an organisation.
The qualification is also suitable for learners who are undertaking the Level 5 Operational/Departmental Manager apprenticeship. The assessment plan for this apprenticeship strongly recommends the achievement of a relevant Level 5 Diploma as part of the learner’s development and preparation for End Point Assessment.
The qualification content is mapped to the apprenticeship standard and can therefore be used to structure and support on-programme learning before the learner reaches Gateway. The portfolio produced by learners for this regulated qualification can also be suitable for submission to their chosen End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) as part of the Apprentice’s End Point Assessment. This can remove the need for learners to produce two separate portfolios.
The published assessment plan provides guidance on the types of evidence that should be included within the EPAO portfolio, helping learners and training providers ensure that appropriate evidence is collected throughout the programme.
